Dosages Adult Dosages: Dosages vary due to metabolism, dietary habits, stress levels and other variances of our individual bodies. It is better to err on the side of insufficient dosage and trust nature, than to overdose. Try a small amount and watch for a reaction before giving more. Your body is your best judge. For acute infections: try taking a dropperful every hour. For chronic infections: take a dropperful per day. Dosages also depend on the potency of the preparation so the variables are endless. If you have questions consult a competent holistic practitioner. Children's Dosages: * Cowling's Rule: Divide the child's age at the next birthday by 24 to get the fraction of the adult dose. (Example for a child that will be 6: 6/24 = 1/4 the adult dosage ) * Clark's Rule: Divide the child's weight in pounds by 150 to get the fraction of the adult dose. (Example for a 50 pound child: 50/150 = 1/3 the adult dosage) * Young's Rule: Divide the child's age by 12 plus the age. (Example for a 4 year old child: 4/12 + 4= 4/16 or 1/4 the adult dosage) Babies Dosage: Dilute all essential oils used on babies and never use Spearmint or Clary Sage.
